Pakistan Prime Minister arrives tomorrow [January 03 2016]

The Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sherif is scheduled to arrive in Colombo tomorrow (January 04) afternoon.

With his visit, the two countries are to sign several agreements including a pact to exchange financial intelligence to combate money laundering and terrorism financing. The two countries are scheduled to sign agreements on promoting trade and providing training for the Pakistani nationals Sri Lankan gem and jewelry trade, according to Pakistan based media reports.

According to news reports published last week agreements will be signed on issues such as youth development, exchange of statistical and census data, scientific and technological cooperation, health and culture.

According to informed sources, the Pakistan Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (PSFTA) will be reviewed. The PSFTA is in force since 2005.

The Pakistani Premier last visited Sri Lanka in November 2013 for the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting which was held in Colombo. (DY)
