Chandrika to address UN special session in New York [May 08 2016]

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, the Chairperson of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR) will represent Sri Lanka at a special session of the United Nations General Assembly on May 10 and 11 at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Kumaratunga will speak on the reconciliation work being carried out by the Government in her address on 'Leading by Example: Innovative Partnerships and Responses'.

The high level thematic debate on Challenges to International Peace and Security under the theme 'In a World of Risks: A New Commitment for Peace', is organised by the President of the General Assembly, Mogens Lykketoft, and will be attended by representatives of UN Member States, Observers, UN entities, Civil Society and Research Institutions.
