Jayanthi conquers Mt. Everest [May 22 2016]

Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala became the first Sri Lankan to climb Mount Everest. She left Camp 4 around 9 pm the previous day, with climbing partner, Johann Peries. She continued with her Sherpa to the Death Zone, the region above 26,000ft where climbing is extremely difficult.

An exultant Jayanthi reached the peak, making Sri Lankan history, ending her Everest expedition on a truly successful note.
