PM for World Islamic Economic Forum [May 29 2016]

For the first time, Sri Lanka has been invited to participate in the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum (wiEF), scheduled to take place from August 2-4 at the Jakarta Convention Centre.

Chairman, World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation, Tuan Musa Hitam extended an invitation to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe when he paid a courtesy call on the Premier on Friday(27).

"Sri Lanka has enormous potential in key revenue earning sectors for growth and the WIEF will open many opportunities for the development of the micro and SMEs in Sri Lanka," Hitam said.

The 12th WIEF aims to explore the crucial role of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in driving economic growth in economies around the world, in line with its theme of "Decentralising Growth, Empowering Future Business."

Around 2,500 delegates and 60 role players from over 100 countries across the globe are expected to attend the 12th WIEF.
