Productivity improves at JCT The Jaye Container Terminal has achieved a record berth productivity of over 60 moves per hour over the last few days, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) said in a news release. The average productivity at the JCT, the largest container Terminal in South Asia, had been approximately 38 moves per hour. Among the ships that have achieved a vessel productivity of more than 60 moves per hour are Hanjin Athens, Zim Vanazia, Nedlloyd Ocean (P&O Nedlloyd) and Ktsuragi. In a bid to boost its image as a preeminent load centre in South Asia, the SLPA recently established a productivity development committee. Its objective is to achieve a productivity growth of 50 per cent in the handling of containers at the JCT within three months. |
