Air Force cycle race March 2, 3

Sri Lanka Air Force Cycling Association has organised a two-day cycle race, 'Guwan Hamuda Papadi Savariya 2002' as part of the celebrations connected with the 51st anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The race will be held on March 2 and 3.

The start will be on March 2 in front of the SLAF Unit Colombo and the cyclists will travel to Kiribathgoda, Kadawatha, Nittambuwa, Warakapola, Kegalle, Mawanella, Kadugannawa, Katugastota, Matale, Dambulla, Habarana Hingurakgoda, with the finish in front of 'Gamudawa Temple' at Hingurakgoda.

On the second day (March 3), the cyclists will start in front of Gamudawa ground at Dambukka and proceed to Galewela, Melsiripura, Kurunegala, Narammala, Giriulla, Dankotuwa, Kochchikade, Negombo, Katunayake, Ja-ela, Wattala, Peliyagoda, New Kelani Bride and finish in front of SLAF Unit, Colombo.

Many valuable prizes are on offer. For the individual race, the winner will receive Rs. 40,000, second Rs. 35,000, third Rs. 30,000, fourth and fifth Rs. 15,000 and 6th to 10th Rs. 7,000 each.

For the team championship, the best team will receive Rs. 15,000, first runners-up Rs. 10,000 the second runners-up Rs. 7,500.

Stage I: (Colombo to Hingurakgoda): 1. Rs. 5,000, 2. Rs. 4,500 and 3. Rs. 3,000.

Stage II: (Dambulla to Colombo): 1. Rs. 5,000, 2. Rs. 4,500 and 3. Rs. 3,000.
