MRF to drive Lankan market with DIMO

MRF, said to be India's largest tyre manufacturer and the world's 12th biggest, has appointed Diesel and Motor Engineering Company Ltd., (DIMO) as its local agent for car, light truck, industrial and earth mover tyres.

DIMO's current portfolio includes brands such as Mercedes Benz, TATA, Osram, Blaupunkt, BOSCH, Siemans, Monroe and Komatsu. It is also the local agent for Michelin and BG Goodrich-tyres.

MRF is based in Chennai and was rated among India's Top 10 admired companies by Far Eastern Economic Review's Annual 'Review 2000.'

Its export initiatives began in 1967 when MRF became the first Indian company to export tyres to USA. At present MRF tyres are exported to 65 countries including the US, South America, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and Asia.

With its focus on expanding exports, the company plans to increase its overseas market share and start operations in several new countries. MRF has already established offices in Dubai, Bangladesh and Vietnam and is working on setting up facilities in the US and Australia.
