Airlines consolidates route network
SriLankan Airlines' Summer 2002 timetable operative from March 31 to October 26, sees a consolidation of its route network with several new flights to existing destinations. Trivandrum will have a daily service with common departure times for onward and return flights. Departure for onward flights from Colombo will be at 0845 hours and departure for return flights from Trivandrum will be at 1045 hours. At present SriLankan has five services a week to Trivandrum. Dubai will have a service everyday except Saturday. All return flights from Dubai to Colombo will have a common departure time of 2310 hours. SriLankan offers air travel between Dubai and Kuwait and will increase these services from four to five a week. The flights will be routed Colombo/Dubai/Kuwait and vice versa. The new service will be on Friday. Departures from Colombo will be at 1405 hours everyday. An additional flight to Doha will operate on Sunday in combination with Abu Dhabi. SriLankan has two other services from Colombo to Doha in combination with Bahrain which operate on Tuesday and Friday. A service will operate on Thursday instead of Friday in the summer schedule. Flight times for the 12 weekly services to Chennai have also been made uniform for the convenience of passengers. All morning flights from Colombo will be at 0810 hours, evening departures at 1845 hours and late night departures at 0115 hours. Common departure times have been fixed for flights to and from Delhi. SriLankan will offer services from Colombo to Delhi every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. All flights will leave Colombo at 1915 hours and return flights will leave Delhi at 2340 hours. A new flight to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore on Wednesday will bring services to Kuala Lumpur to five and those to Singapore to eight. The new flight offers easy connections from Colombo to Delhi, Riyadh and Male. A fourth weekly service to Bangkok will be re-introduced and will operate every Friday with an Airbus A340. The other services to Bangkok are on Monday, Thursday and Saturday in combination with Hong Kong. In July SriLankan will introduce an additional non-stop service to London on Tuesday. This means the airline will offer eight services each week to London Heathrow including two services every Tuesday. Of the eight flights, six will operate non-stop and two, via Male. SriLankan currently flies to 27 destinations in 20 countries across Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and the Far East and operates a fleet comprising three A340s, four A330s and one A320. |
