Sri Lankan born wins global GSM award

Network 365, a provider of application platforms enabling the mobile lifestyle, has won the Best Wireless Application Developer Award at the GSM Association Awards 2002. The event was held in Cannes during the 3GSM World Congress.

Sri Lankan born Raomal Perera is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of this mobile technology company headquartered in Ireland.

Prior to founding Network 365, he co-founded the Nasdaq-quoted company Isocor, also headquartered in Ireland. Perera is also a co-founder and non-executive director of the Sri Lankan software engineering company for e-business, Affno.

The award was presented for the company's 'mzone' technology that is being used by telecom operators worldwide to deliver a range of services to mobile phone users.

The GSM Association is a leading wireless industry representative body, consisting of more than 600 second and third generation wireless network operators and key manufacturers and suppliers to the wireless industry. The awards are now in their seventh year.

The Network 365 product, mzone, addresses all the elements of the mobile Internet value chain from mCommerce and secure and personalised payment to advanced messaging and optimised content anywhere.

Mzone currently comprises four platforms: mzone kiosk, a complete mobile shopping solution for merchants; mzone avatar, a feature-rich mobile solution which enables secure payment, personalisation and identification; mzone maestro, which delivers optimised content and services to enable the mobile lifestyle; and mzone agora, an advanced messaging application platform.

Network 365 has been rated by Time and Infoconomist magazines as one of Europe's hottest technology companies.
