Gas conversion equipment for 3-wheelers

Shell Gas Lanka Limited and David Pieris Motor Company (DPMC), have launched three-wheeler gas conversion equipment including a special 4 kg LPG cylinder, to provide three-wheeler motorists with a cheaper alternative to petrol.

According to technical experts of the two companies, consumers will now be able to save more than 35 per cent of their petrol bills.

According to Shell Gas, Corporate Health, Safety and Environment Manager M. Mylvaganam: "Safety is key in this industry and we have made sure that we provide solutions to consumers on this basis. Therefore, we have specially designed a cylinder and have incorporated a new valve design for this purpose. In addition to this, there is a specially designed ventilated gas cylinder storage compartment for upright cylinder placement, a vapour withdrawal system and excess flow valve for maximum safety."

David Pieris Motor Company represents world renowned companies such as Bajaj Auto Ltd. of India, Ford Motor Company and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. It has also diversified into electronics and financial services.

Shell will be responsible for providing the 4kg cylinders and refills while DPMC will distribute these cylinder refills through its three-wheeler parts and service dealer network. Cylinder distribution will initially be confined to 150 DPMC outlets in the western province, but will expand to other areas at a later stage.
