Kinross 6-mile Sea Swim March 30

The 38th annual 6-mile open sea swim conducted by Kinross Swimming and Life-Saving Club and sponsored by Bank of Ceylon, will be held on Saturday March 30 commencing at 2.30 p.m.

The usual course of the swim is from Wellawatte to Mt. Lavinia and back and this year, a record number of swimmers are expected to participate.

National swimmer Ajith Weerakkody of Sri Lanka Navy who won the Mt. Lavinia 2-mile sea swim for the fifth successive year held on March 3 was last year's winner of the 6-mile sea swim and he is tipped to win it again. Pushpa Chandani of Sri Devananda Maha Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda won the last year's women's race.

Sri Devananda Maha Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda became overall champions in the men's and women's team races last year. (L.F.)
