Applications called for CNCI Awards

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) is calling for applications from companies for the 'CNCI Achiever of Industrial Excellence' awards, which is to be held on July 19 at the Ceylon Continental Hotel to honour and recognise businesses which have contributed to the development of industry in Sri Lanka.

Over 40 awards will be presented at the event.

They will be categorised as large, small, medium and micro for the 'Sri Lankan National Award' for which Gold, Silver, Bronze and two merit awards will be presented in each category and medium, small and micro for 'Provincial Award' where Gold, Silver, Bronze and merit awards will be presented in each category.

The best provincial awards will also be considered for the national award. The companies will be evaluated on their performance during the last three years.

The scheme is also open to companies in other SAARC countries. Winners of each country will receive a Gold award, a CNCI spokesperson said.

Sri Lankan industries operating in another SAARC country are also entitled to awards. Companies in the SAARC region with over 50 per cent Sri Lankan ownership and where the chief executive officer or general manager is a Sri Lankan will be considered for this award.

Delegates from these countries will also be in Sri Lanka for the event. CNCI is hoping to arrange one-to-one meetings with them for local industrialists, the spokesperson said.

Chemical (Industries) Colombo Ltd. is the principal sponsor of the event while Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. is the media sponsor.
