'more' goes virtual

Mobitel's prepaid card 'more' has gone virtual, enabling customers to purchase the card online. The Mobitel website has been upgraded to meet this demand, the company said in a news release.

Mobitel, which introduced the facility of online payment with HSBC and Sampath Bank last year, will initially use the HSBC payment gateway for this. The company also plans to open Sampath Bank's payment gateway to enhance the service facilities.

"This new option enables the customer to purchase the card from any place in the world. All purchases must be over the value of Rs. 350," a company spokesperson said.

The 'more' card has now completed one year. "When we introduced the card, we did not expect the response that we actually received. The card became popular among a varied market", a spokesperson said.

The card comes in five denominations from Rs. 350 to Rs. 5000 from which the customer can choose. A new Rs. 500 card featuring spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan was introduced recently.

Mobitel introduced a new promotion for its 'more' customers last November. The promotion, held on a monthly basis, offers the card users, prizes ranging from Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 100,000 and five Mobitel phones with free connection.
