NCE Export Awards for the 10th time The National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) launched the 10th NCE Export Awards in Colombo recently. NCE President Felix Yahampath said the number of applications for this year is expected to grow by 30 per cent compared to last year. Senior Vice President NCE and Chairman of the Awards Committee Kingsley Bernard said the awards scheme is for members of NCE, which numbers over 400. The objective of this scheme is not only to recognise such members for their commitment and contribution to NCE, but also to the country's export drive and its economy, he said. Applications were invited under seven sectors - agriculture - traditional and non-traditional, industry, gems and jewellery and service providers to exporters. Exporters who fall into the above sectors were classified into small, medium, large and extra large to assess their performance. The Most Outstanding Exporter under each sector will also be recognised. Awards will be given to the Most Outstanding Exporter among all Exporters, the Best Woman Exporter, the Best Sri Lankan Brand, Most Value Added and Innovative Product. A special category, garments sector has also been included Bernard said. The Awards ceremony will be held on August 16 at the Colombo Hilton. The closing date for applications is June 10. |
