SriLankan flies on London cabs Twenty London cabbies experienced a 'taste of paradise' when their vehicles were adorned with the 'monara' logo of SriLankan Airlines. SriLankan Airlines is using London cabs to promote the airline and its homebase Sri Lanka, in the UK. Twenty Central London cabs have been branded with the airline's logo and colours. This promotion coincided with the Sri Lanka-England test series in May in England. London's cabs have been used by many large international firms as a medium of advertising. Says SriLankan's Manager UK, S. A. Ramachandran: "The taxis offer a great way to stimulate interest in the region and in SriLankan Airlines generally. Sri Lanka is once again firmly on the UK travel map thanks to the recent peace initiatives in the country and a desire by UK travellers to go somewhere more exotic than southern Europe. Sri Lanka will be an attraction for cricket lovers too as the forthcoming ICC trophy in September 2002 and the England tour of Sri Lanka in 2003." SriLankan will use the branded cabs in all its promotions in the UK. |
