Sri Lanka Schools to have swim dual with Chennai Schools by LESLIE FERNANDO Sri Lanka Schools boys and girls will be afforded an opportunity to compete with their counterparts from Chennai, India in dual swimming meet organised and conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Swimming Association for the first time and to be held in October-November in Colombo. A spokesman for the Sri Lanka Schools Swimming Association said that an invitation will be extended to the Chennai swimmers once the approval is granted by the Ministry of Education here. The meet will be a three-day affair and all normal events in five age-groups will be held. The 29th Sri Lanka Schools Senior and Junior Swimming and Diving Championships will be held from June 20 to 23 at the Sugathadasa Stadium pool and this will be the final trial to pick swimmers of the dual meet with Chennai swimmers. Altogether 131 events will be worked off in swimming in both the senior and junior categories. One metre spring board, 3 meters spring board and platform events will be included for divers. The overall champions will be selected in both the senior and junior championships and age group champions will also be selected. |
