Health and beauty spa in Colombo Sri Lanka's first stand-alone spa will open for business tomorrow, significantly augmenting the country's lifestyle and leisure infrastructure and providing a new attraction for tourists. Named The Sanctuary, this 6000 square foot multi-therapy facility, located in Colombo 5, offers its clientele range of nature-based skin care, stress relief, and wellness enhancing treatments, fast-gaining popularity in the more sophisticated societies of the east and west. An investment of Rs. 25 million, The Sanctuary seeks to fill a long-felt void in the market for leisure and lifestyle services, by establishing a facility that has hitherto been available in a limited way for resident guests is some resort hotels, says Johann Peiris, a promoter of the project. The facilities at the spa include natural pools for water therapy, jacuzzis, saunas, steam rooms, treatment rooms, mud baths, aromatherapy and a gourmet spa food kitchen for guests. An additional attraction is the adjacent 'Cutting Station' the hair styling salon owned and run by Mr. Peiris. The promoters of the project are also negotiating with leading inbound tour operators to place The Sanctuary on the itineraries of tourists, especially at the high-end of the market. The Sanctuary brings together the talents and skills of K. Omprasadham who promoted and built Sri Lanka's first privately owned power station, and is one of the investors in the Pannala International Circuit, the country's only purpose-built motor racing tack; Johann Peiris, the well-known hair stylist, Latin American dancer and thespian and Veronica Omprasadham, who has worked alongside Mr. Peiris from the inception in the creation of The Sanctuary Spa. |
