Jaffna Trade Fair from August 3 The Jaffna Trade Fair will be held from August 3 to 5 at the Jaffna Central College. The fair is organised by the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees together with the Resettlement and Rehabilitation Authority of the North. The theme of the trade fair is 'Peace through Trade'. A trade fair is being held in Jaffna after 20 years. "It is an ideal opportunity for the business community in the South to meet potential business entrepreneurs in the North," said a spokesman of CDC Conventions (Pvt) Ltd., the professional organiser of the fair. The event will act as the driving force to re-unite and invite the business communities in the South and North, which will facilitate the establishment of permanent peace in Sri Lanka through the development of strong trade links, the spokesman said. The trade fair will consist of 150 trade stalls, of which 10 will be provided free of charge to needy business people in Jaffna. The exhibits will include consumer goods and industrial goods while service providers such as financial service institutions, insurance providers, leasing and hire purchase companies, shipping, cargo logistics, freight forwarding and transport and travel and tourism will also take part. Sixty leading companies in the South have already confirmed their participation and reserved trade stalls. All exhibits for the trade fair will be transported through the A-9 highway. |
