They go yakkity yak on Super I What excitement there is when a new product is launched! Last week saw the introduction of 'Super I', a detergent that is likely to be a winner. And didn't our housewives and those sticklers of cleanliness go yakkity yak about all its merits.
Mr. Vivek, Brand Manager, Breeze Advertising, Chennai who was here for the launching ceremony at Hotel Renuka, took those present through a curtain raiser of the evolution of this product by its manufacturers, India's Indus Group. He touched on its key features and how it came to be called Super I. "Super I has a high level of active detergent, a low level of moisture that prevents lumps and so facilitates a 'quick reach and remove' action. It does not harm the hands and it can be used in any type of washing machine. "What's more it has the pleasant fragrance of lime - an important component of a detergent. According to Mani K, Head Operations, Indus Pharmaceuticals and P.G. Jayaram, General Manager, Strategic Planning, Indus Marketing, lemon for a fragrance was suggested by the Lankans during the consumer surveys conducted here; and thereafter that fragrance was developed by Bush Boake Allan, the world pioneers in fragrances. What's in a name What's in a name you may ask? But to some it means a lot more than you imagine. Take the Indus Group, for example. When they wanted to name their new detergent they did not call it by anything that came to their mind. To them their product was like their baby who had to be named after much thought, concern and consultation. So they chose to visit 200 households in Sri Lanka, give each household samples of ten names they had in mind for that product and asked each household to select what they thought would be the best among those. What do you think happened? Each household pointed to a particular name on that list and said; 'this is the Super one'. And Lo and Behold! the Indus Group decided to call this detergent 'Super I' using a numerical hoping perhaps to follow that product with more numericals. In praise of white While talking of that gleam and extra whiteness Super I afforded its user Vivek had this to say about white: White as a colour is really a combination of all the colours in the spectrum. The purest form of light is always white light. White stands for peace, white for valour, white is a sign of purity, chastity. White is the colour of milk a baby is fed with. White is the colour for the gentlemanly game of cricket. Also in recent times the colour of the cricket ball in a day/night game is white. Therefore white is the purest form of anything special. That is why we celebrate white as being the most important factor in Super I. New agent's office in Jaffna There was a celebration of sorts and jubilation with the opening of Brown & Co. Ltd's 31st branch office of its distributing agents in Jaffna on July 19. That follows the opening of the A-9 Highway and the optimism that now prevails with the promise of peace and the signing of the MOU and other assurances, said Padmini Samarasinghe, Brown & Co. Ltd.'s Finance Director. Trans Asia offers... The Trans Asia Hotel also offers you a stress free experience at its hotel. They want you to avail yourself of their offer of an exclusive, private and health related experience at their Au Veda Spa & Wellness Centre. Those who are lucky to receive their monthly magazine are in for a surprise. It contains a gift voucher for Rs. 1,000 which could be presented at the end of that rejuvenating experience. |
