Nimesh Perera 218 not out

Nimesh Perera with a fine knock of 218 not out helped Tamil Union to make 354 for 4 wickets declared in the Cricket Board Under 23 division one cricket tournament match against Negombo CC at the Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

Nimesh Perera and Malintha Gajanayake (70) were associated in a third-wicket partnership of 203 runs that helped Tamil Union to pile on the runs.

At close of play, Negombo innings were in tatters - 71 for 5 wickets.

The match will be continued today at 10 a.m.

Tamil Union: 354 for 3 wkts dec (Yasith Maitripala 27, Nimesh Perera 218 not out, Malintha Gajanayake 70, Danuk Pathirana 25, Kevin Anthony 2 for 75).

Negombo CC: 71 for 5 wkts at close (Achala Jayalath 21, Sanka de Silva 24 not out, S. Kelum 3 for 14).
