Export order for tea bags to Taiwan

Zesta, the Ceylon Tea brand of Watawala Plantations Ltd., has secured a new export order for tea bags from Taiwan, one of the major export markets serviced by the company.

The latest consignment of tea bags and tea leaf was dispatched by the company earlier this month.Watawala Plantations Director Dushy Ratnasingham said the growth of exports of Zesta and the repeat orders secured by the company were underpinned by the international quality standards achieved by the brand launched four years ago.

Zesta tea is now exported to markets like Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, Syria and the Maldives.

The brand has also been accorded exclusive status on board all Air India flights, the company said.

Watawala Plantations also exports organic and green tea.The brand, manufactured principally with high grown tea, was originally launched to cater to a demand for high quality tea in the domestic market, but has now evolved into a major export brand, Mr. Ratnasingham said.
