Carprotect from Eagle

Carprotect Sri Lankas first ever car insurance plan with a reassuring 24 hour help hotline was launched by Eagle Insurance last week.

The 24 hour help hotline enables a policy holder to get in touch with the company as soon as an accident occurs. This will enable speedy claim settlement too in addition to peace of mind, said Marketing Manager Eagle Insurance Amal Perera. Any person between the age of 25-65 years with a vehicle valued at over Rupees one million can purchase an insurance plan.

It covers the damage caused by accidents, fire and lightening, external explosion, self ignition as well as theft and burglary. The cover is even provided for damage due to malicious acts and death or bodily injuries as well as property belonging to third parties.

Another unique feature of the plan is the reimbursement of taxi fare during the period the car is in the garage for repairs after an accident. the taxi allowance is Rs 2500 up to five days, while it increases to Rs5000 if the duration is 6-10 days. In the event the duration is more than 10 days the allowance is increased to Rs 7500.

If the passengers are hospitalised after an accident a payment of Rs 1500 a day will be paid for seven days for each passenger. The sum will be doubled if the patient is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. The company will offer favourable terms with regard to no claim bonus in accordance with the recently revised pricing structure of the company. In the new system the no claim bonus percentage can go upto 65% over the years. This is much higher than the no claim bonus paid earlier. The plan also offers a reduced no claim bonus even after a claim has been made for an accident in the event the customer has earned a no claim bonus for over five years, said Perera.

He said that a series of optional benefits are also offered for an extra premium. Under these options one can insure the car against damage caused by riot and strike, civil commotion, terrorism or floods. In the event windscreens and shutters break due to some other reason other than an accident it will be compensated for without affecting the no claim bonus.

Protection can also be obtained for all passengers with the CarProtect Personal Accident Cover.Eagle Insurance a member of the Zurich Financial Services Group is a global leader in financial services serving over 38 million customers and employing over 70,000 people in over 60 countries around the globe.
