You've got another chance to enjoy 'Keyboard Fiesta II' produced by Jith Pieris whose commitment and dedication in staging musical shows has always been laudable. The show will be on today at the Bishop's College Auditorium and will feature the popular pianist Beverley Rodrigo performing many favourites from the semi-classical, the Latin world, the Broadway stages and more, including the fascinating themes from the ethnic arena. You are bound to find a favourite song of yours in the program today, so make sure you are there to enjoy many musical memories. Jith Pieris tells us that he's producing the show in the 'Liberace' tradition and spotlighting a pianist who should have been on the concert stage much earlier in his career and not confined to the lobbies of 5 star hotels. Featured along with Beverley will be the singers Shanelle Fernando and Samantha Ferdinand performing catchy selections from the Broadway musicals. Priya Goonetilleke and Drucille G of the popular dance band Pearl will form the rhythm section with Priya on her favourite drum stool while Drucille will pickup the bass lines for the show. Aruna Siriwardhana whose drum artistry is now a legend will join Beverley to re-create the favourites that were on everybody's lips in the sixties. Finally the ethnic route with Nesan Thiagarajah on Gaddam and Mirudhangam to add the Eastern spice to Beverley's artistry. The demand for today's show has been so great that Jith will be staging Keyboard Fiesta II in Kandy, Galle and Negombo soon. |
