Mysterious aircraft issue baseless by Ramani Kangaraarchchi The SLAF probe into last Wednesday's report of a mysterious aircraft over the Mullaitivu skies has concluded that no unauthorised aircraft had landed or attempted to land on Sri Lanka territory. It has been revealed that the Navy has observed only a moving light over the skies of China Bay but not an aircraft landing at Mullaitivu area in the early hours of Wednesday as reported in the media earlier. Wing Commander Ajith Wijesundara, spokesman for the Air Force, said that a full probe was conducted by the Base Commander in China Bay on the instructions of the Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Donald Perera, into this incident and found the Navy personnel in the Dvora boat at sea at the time, had only observed a moving light. Since there is a civil international airline operative in this area, it could be one of them. The possibility of any unauthorised sea plane or aircraft landing was very remote he added. The inquiry was conducted on information given by the Sri Lanka Navy of a mystery aircraft landing close to the shores off Mullaitivu last Wednesday. |
