Kenya in 6-wkt win

by PELHAM JURIANSZ

The two non-Test playing nations battled it out for supremacy and as expected, the Kenyans registered a facile win by defeating their rivals from Holland by 6 wickets at the NCC grounds yesterday in a practice game.

Holland, batting first, totalled 169 all out in 50 overs with Robert Oosterom scoring 20, Bas Zuiderent 39 and Luuk van Troost a solid 60. Steve Tikolo was the chief wicket-taker with five for 24.

Kenya, in reply, knocked off the required runs with 17 overs to spare with Brijal Patel leading the way with an unbeaten 65, Thomas Odoyo 33 and Maurice Odumbe 40 not out. Only Edgar Schiferli showed any prowess with the ball, capturing two for 19.

Holland: 169 all out in 50 Overs (Robert Oosteron 20, Bas Zuiderent 39, Luuk van Troost 60, Steve Tikolo 5/24).

Kenya: 170/4 in 33 Overs(Brijal Patel 65 n.o, Thomas Odoyo 33, Maurice Odumbe 40 n.o, Edgar Schiferli 2/19).
