Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Johnston Fernando yesterday sent a congratulatory message to Sprint Queen Susanthika Jayasinghe, commending her success of becoming first Sri Lankan to win a medal ever at a World Cup meet.

"This time, you have not only made Sri Lanka proud but the whole Asia by winning a bronze medal in women's 100m final of the World Cup. Please accept the greetings and good wishes of the Government and all sports loving public of Sri Lanka," Minister Fernando said in a congratulatory message sent to Jayasinghe through the Manager of the Lankan team, Sunil Jayaweera, who is also the President of the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka.

Minister Fernando had wished Jayasinghe all success in the women's 200m final scheduled for later tonight and also for next month's Asian Games in Korea.
