Sri Lanka tours South Africa and Australia before World Cup

by RANJAN ANANDAPPA

Sri Lanka cricketers will be up against stiff opposition prior to the 2003 cricket World Cup in South Africa when they make subsequent tours to South Africa and Australia within a short space of time. The islanders are scheduled to tour South Africa from October 25 to December 6th playing two Test matches and five one-day internationals with South Africa.

The Lankans thereafter will take wing to Australia in December to play in a triangular one-day series against Australia, England after the Ashes tour.

In both tours, Sri Lanka will find the ideal platform to asses their strength and weaknesses playing on fast and bouncy pitches which the Lankans find difficult to cope with.
