GABAcELL, an IT-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, was introduced in Colombo recently by Miami Exports (Pvt) Ltd. in association with its Indian partner, Unicell Software (Pvt) Ltd.

The software package was specially developed to enhance the competitiveness of Sri Lanka's apparel industry. It provides multiple facilities that improve planning, organising, estimating, reporting, reviewing and monitoring throughout the manufacturing process, company Director Harshana Mahipala said at the launch. "ERP is a must for the garment industry and is not an area where we can compromise.

"We decided to develop this solution with our partner as we could not find a package to suit our requirements. 'Gaba' is a Hindi term for garments," he said.

According to the company, GABAcELL, the Windows-based client server application, can be easily customised to suit the needs of any company, is user-friendly and easy to understand and can generate innumerable user defined reports.
