Phone repairs at home by Gamini Rupananda, Colombo South Group Correspondent Steuartel (Pvt.) Ltd., a subsidiary of George Steuart and Co. Ltd., recently announced a new service assurance programme called 'Steuartel Club'. This will carry out repairs and servicing of telephone instruments at the customer's residence or office. Managing Director Steuartel and George Steuart Group of Companies J.M. Wimalagooneratne said: "Few people give thought to sudden breakdowns in communications due to instrument failures, but it happens. It is also difficult to find a reliable party to carry out repairs. If you do, you have to take the instrument to their workshop. Even if the product is under warranty, it normally covers only the first year and will not cover regular maintenance or defects after the warranty period. Instrument serviceability cannot be taken for granted. We owe it to our customers and to all telephone users in this country to make it a top priority by providing them with reliable after sales service with value added services." Steuartel Club members will be entitled to free instrument repairs, response to service calls within 24 hours, free standby phone in the event of a component repair, free annual servicing of phones and discounts and updates on all Steuartel products among other benefits. The first phase of the programme would be operational for telephone users in Greater Colombo. It will later be expanded to cover the whole island. |
