A storm at JAIC

Away from the open air concert stage, Bathiya and Santhush proved that in a small indoor environment they can turn on their ethnic magic to keep the audience with them until the coda is played. Their performance at the JAIC on Thursday September 19 was a storm, leaving the audience thirsting for more.

According to Farha Azafa, the Marketing Executive plans are in the can for a show at the JAIC this month by Bathiya and Santhush and that is going to be something for B&S fans. Perched on bar stools at their JAIC performance, Bathiya and Santhush started their program with Beatles' favourites and then moved into some easy originals of theirs before turning on the heat and wowing the audience with their exciting hits, Siri Sangabodi, Life, Manusathkule and tracks from their new album.

The audience forgot their food, moved and clapped to the infectious rhythms, that came from the small stage embellished with percussion sounds from an array of Sri Lankan drums and congas, vocal harmonies from Ashanthi and Nevanthi and the pulsating rhythms of Billy, Nalin and Nadeeka. B&S have come to stay in Sri Lanka. They had a dream in their lives and that dream has come true, simply because they thought differently and were original.
