Series of activities to make Lanka the 'most happening place' Conventions Asia Pte. Ltd., a member of the Hemas Group, has planned a range of activities to make Sri Lanka the 'most happening place' in the region during the coming festive season. The newly set up Exhibition and Conference Centre at the World Trade Centre (WTC) will be the venue for these events which will take place from October 24 to December 31. Manoj Rajayah, Director Conventions Asia said: "The WTC was hand-picked as the venue due to its exclusivity and high-end ambience conducive to entice both international and local niche market segments". The Sri Lankan Festival will kick off on the 24th with two exhibitions, Design Tech and Office Tech, which will go on till the 26th. Design Tech will be for those involved in interior designing while Office Tech will be on office automation and technology products. Comm Tech, to be held from November 21 to 23, will feature the latest developments in communication technology, innovations and services. From November 28 to December 1, all modes of transport will be showcased under one banner at the Sri Lanka Automobile Show. Avindra Fonseka, Project Manager said: "These events will be focusing on buyers from the upper middle class market and the decision makers in offices and factories. Only a limited number of exhibitors (12 - 24) will take part in each category which will allow each one of them to get the maximum focus." For the seasonal shoppers, Conventions Asia will hold the Goodies Fiesta for seasonal desserts from December 5 to 9; a dual consumer fair from December 15 to 23 showcasing electronics and consumer goods; Consumer Electronics, an exhibition featuring television and radio technology, kitchen appliances and cable technology among other items; and Body, Mind and Soul, a consumer exhibition featuring all conceivable ware. Rajayah described the events they have lined up for Christmas revellers. They are a Ladies Dinner Dance named 'Girls wan2 have fun' on December 13; a Christmas Eve Dinner Dance on December 24; a 'Rubbish Party' for "anyone and everyone" on December 27; a 'Teen Bash' on December 28; and the 'Kidiz Bash' for juniors on December 29. "All good stories must have a happy ending. So we have planned a world standard 'New Year Dinner Dance' to toast the last day of the year. All these events will take place at the WTC," he said. |
