Four Lankan Juniors for Dubai tennis tourney

Four of Sri Lanka's leading junior players flew out to Dubai yesterday to play in another world ranking International Tennis Federation (ITF) under-18 International Championship two weeks after Harshana Godamanne's historic achievement in Islamabad where he became the first Sri Lankan to win an ITF junior singles title overseas.

Godamanne (17) from Royal College will be making every attempt to win in Dubai too in this five-day event which starts tomorrow (Monday). The other three players in the side are Franklyn Emmanual (reigning national champion), Amrith Rupasinghe and N. S. Nishendran. They are all being sponsored by SriLankan Airlines.

Forty-eight players from 25 European and Asian countries will be playing in Dubai.
