Musashi sponsors first ever swimming sprint challenge

WelSports Private Ltd, the authorised agents for the world's reputed nutritional, Musashi in Sri Lanka have extended their generous sponsorship towards organising Sri Lanka's first ever swimming Sprint Challenge, which will be held at the Austasia Sports & Leisure Club in collaboration with Rainbow Swimming Academy.

The Rainbow Swimming Academy is headed by veteran swimmer Julian Bolling. The event has the blessings of the National Amateur Aquatic Sports Union.

The meet is set to take place on Saturday, October 26 and will be followed by a "Swimmers night" , a social gathering.

Musashi Sprint Challenge is organised to attract the cream of swimmers in the country with cash awards on offer for the winners. WelSports will also offer a 12-month nutrition scholarship to two of the best girl and boy swimmers of the event.

"Our aim is to attract the best swimmers of the country to swim together and make this a spectacular event, and this will be followed by another meet for juveniles," said Julian Bolling, once Sri Lanka's champion swimmer.

Speaking about the sponsorship, Musashi's Marketing Manager Leonard Ratnayake said that having introduced Musashi he hoped that this would be an ideal foil with regards to marketing prospects, while the sport would benefit as well.

The events to be worked out are as follows:

1. 50m Butterfly girls/boys, 2. 50m Back Stroke girls/boys, 3. 50m Breast Stroke girls/boys, 4. 50m Free Style girls/boys.

Medals and cash prizes will be awarded for the top three. Rs. 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs. 1, 000. An Overall best swimmer award for men and women will be awarded a Trophy and a Musashi scholarship of Rs. 1000 per month for 12 months.
