Date fixed for FACETS 2003

The 13th consecutive FACETS gem and jewellery show, will be held from September 8 to 10 next year. The date for FACETS 2003 was fixed last week and will appear in the International Gem and Jewellery Almanac, Chairman of the FACETS Organising Committee Macky Hashim said.

Meanwhile, 15 Sri Lankan members of the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) will participate in the biennial ICA Congress, which would take place from January 10 to 15, in Jaipur, India.

The top gem dealers in the world will assemble in Jaipur, for the ICA Congress. The Sri Lankan delegation will make use of the opportunity to promote Ceylon sapphires and the FACETS show, Director for the ICA Board of Directors for Sri Lanka, Kamil Ismail said. Sri Lanka's gem mines will also be promoted in Jaipur. Ismail plans to bring leading gem buyers to visit local gem mines after the congress.

Meanwhile, seven Sri Lankan companies will participate at the Tuscon Gem Show to take place in Arizona, USA in the first week of February 2003. The Tuscon Show is said to be the most prestigious gem show in the world.

The local companies which would participate are Crest Gems, AMS Deen and Sons, Mushan International, Island Collection Pvt Ltd., Shiraz Gems, Gembines and Nawagam Jewellery Pvt Ltd.
