Leadership is developed daily, not in a day !

Are leaders born? This is a question that many have debated for aeons. We have a simple answer. Yes, all leaders are born. How else would they have come into this world? The real question is whether leadership is something one possesses or not. Although some people have greater natural skills than others, the ability to lead is a collection of skills, nearly all of which can be learned or improved. But the processes does not happen in a day, stated a release issued by the Presidential classroom for future world leaders.

Leadership is complicated because it has many facets. Leadership is respect, experience, emotional strength, people skills, discipline, vision, momentum, timing and so forth. But as you may see these factors are all intangible. Therefore leaders need so much of seasoning to be effective. Leaders need to practice leadership daily in their lives. It is the capacity to develop and improve their skills that distinguishes the leaders from followers. Successful leaders are learners. The learning process happens daily and not in a day.

Those who aspire to be leaders must start this process at a very young age, stated the release.

One of the most flamboyant American Presidents, Theodore Roosevelt a boxer himself once said that champions do not become champions in the ring. They are just recognised there. If you need to see how someone develops to be a champion just observe his or her daily routine. When he completed his term in 1909 he travelled to Africa to lead a scientific expedition. In 1913 he led a group to explore the uncharted River of Doubt in Brazil. In 1919 when he died in his sleep, they found a book under his pillow. He was reading to improve his knowledge even to the last. His Vice President Marshall said, "death had to take him sleeping as since he was such a great leader, if he was awake there would have been a fight", it added.

Leadership is developed daily. Not in a day. The secret of success in life is for a man or woman to be ready for his or her time when it comes. What a person does on a disciplined, consistent basis gets him or her ready, no matter what the goal is. If you want to be a future leader then you need determination, dedication and commitment to learn leadership everyday of your life. The good news is that leadership is not static. You can start from anywhere and get there. Most Presidents of nations reach their peak in leadership during their term of office. However, in the case of Jimmy Carter he blossomed as a world leader after his term as American President when he went on to continually increase his level of influence. Recently, he was knighted in Mali for his work through Habitat for Humanity. In 2002 he has won the Nobel Peace Prize!

The learning process of leadership is ongoing and a result of self-discipline and perseverance. The goal must be to do better than yesterday. Whether you do or do not have great natural ability for leadership, your personal development and progress will probably occur as you go along a planned training process. A former English Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli once said "to be conscious that you are ignorant of the facts is a great step to knowledge". So those who want to be leaders start young and make use of all the opportunities you get to learn and experience leadership at any level, it further added.
