SriLankan Airlines Golf Festival - a roaring success! by A.C. DE SILVA The seventh annual SriLankan Golf Festival at Digana turned out to be a success in more than one way. There were around 250 golfers, both foreigners and locals who turned up for the event which surely must have pleased the sponsors SriLankan Airlines who had a lavish spread of airline tickets as prizes. The array of prizes on offer by SriLankan Airlines included 12 Business Class and eight Economy Class air tickets, while three holiday packages in Sri Lanka besides the many mementos and surprises that were lapped up by the players. Chandana de Silva - Head of Corporate Communications at SriLankan Airlines must surely be a happy man at the wonderful response from golf lovers to this tournament and it augurs well for the future. Digana, rated amongst the 100 most beautiful courses in the world by Golf Digest, the Victoria Golf Course and everything went off well with the tournament. Young Amrith de Soysa showed everyone that he is made of champion qualities as he had the Men's Best Aggregate Gross Stableford Score of 61 and was also the winner in the junior division with 67 points. There were many awards for Suwen Selvaratnam - Women's Best Aggregate Gross Stableford Score of 60, then had the Best Aggregate Nett Stableford Score of 76 and was also the winner of the Senior Division Women's winner with 76. |
