SLS certification for Samudra Cement Samudra Cement Company Lanka (Pvt) Ltd has obtained the SLS 107 certification from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, 10 months after commencing commercial operations. The company already enjoys about a 10 per cent share of the cement market in Sri Lanka. A subsidiary of the Tokyo Cement Group, Samudra Cement won the SLS certification by adhering to stringent quality control standard. Samudra is the 500th product to win this certification from the institution. The cement is used extensively in the industrial sector, for concrete, ready mix and the manufacture of roofing sheets and also in the housing sector. The company obtains its cement supplies from Indonesia, one of the best cement manufacturers in the world. Samudra is also in the process of launching 'Samudra Podda' to the local cement market. With this launch, for the first time in the local market, 5kg and 10kg cement bags will be available to the consumer for small-scale repair jobs. It also plans to obtain the ISO Certificate in the near future. Its parent company, Tokyo Cement, was the first cement manufacturer to obtain the SLS 107 mark and ISO 9002 quality management system certificate and the first Sri Lankan company to obtain the ISO 14001 environment management system certificate. |
