Watches for the fashion conscious by Elmo Leonard The autumn/winter range of Westar wrist-watches was launched in Sri Lanka recently. The brand which targets the fashion market niche is distributed in 30 countries. "Sri Lanka is one of the first countries where our new range was launched," the Dubai-based Business Head of Westar, Amurto Basuray, said in Colombo. The range was first exhibited at the Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair in September. It will soon reach distributors in other countries. The local agent for Westar wrist-watches is Pee Bee Group, which imports and trades in consumer products. The Group was established in 1978, its Managing Director, Kishore Surtani told the media. Westar is headquartered in Dubai. It started turning out wrist-watches with Swiss and Japanese parts in 1985. Westar is a high fashion production. "Its objective is to give the consumer fashionability, and not necessarily functionality. The brand also strives to meet the changing styles of the world, and satisfy the fashion conscious consumer," Basuray said. Westar caters to both men and women. The new range includes a bracelet, which the wearer can slide over to read the time. This year, the Westar manufacturer has increased the guarantee period to cover two years, from the hitherto one year, said Director, Westar Tariq Khalil, who is also based in Dubai. Pee Bee held its dealer conference for Westar watches recently. It launched a contest to choose the best dealer out of 70 dealers during the forthcoming year. The winner will receive a free return airline ticket to Dubai, Pee Bee's Managing Director, Jayantha Gunawardena said. |
