Galway Forest Lodge -Eco paradise in Nuwara Eliya

A short drive from the Nuwara Eliya town along Upper Lake Road, through a forest, leads tourists to a jungle hideout called Galway Forest Lodge, Nuwara Eliya's first three-star hotel. The hotel stands in the centre of the Galway forest reserve.

Built in a natural surroundings, just 1.5 kms. from the Nuwara Eliya town, overlooking the stillness of the Galway forest reserve, this is the first boutique-type hotel in Sri Lanka.

From the moment a tourist enters his room, his eyes catches the breathtaking view of the luscious forest reserve and green tea plantation, from the window. At the hotel, guests find everything they need to get away from the hassle of city civilisation, but without leaving any of its modern comforts behind. The beauty of the surroundings, and the fine amenities are enhanced by the most attentive and friendly staff, headed by Tyrell Morrison, a waiter-turned Executive Resident Manager.

Tyrell who began his hotel career, as a humble waiter and rose to the post of Resident Manager at Galway Forest Lodge, has now been further elevated to the post of Executive Resident Manager of Galway Miridiya Lodge, Anuradhapura, by Galway Hotels, Rajagiriya, the owners of both Galway Forest Lodge and Galway Miridiya Lodge.

Galway Forest Lodge is an eco-friendly tourist hotel comprising 52 tastefully designed cozy rooms with TV, mini bar, telephone and piped music, with a beautiful interior decor to match the boutique type concept.

The marvellous architecture of the hotel had been the hard work of two versatile hoteliers, Ken Pieris, the present Manager Consultant/CEO, and Chandana Fernando, General Manager of Galway Hotel Management Services.

The doors of the Lodge opened in March 1998. The hotel is blessed with salubrious climate and surrounded by breathtaking valleys and meadows, mountains and green tea plantation.

Pidurutalagala, Lake Gregory, World's End, Haggala Botanical Gardens, Nuwara Eliya's picturesque race course, and gardens being in close proximity to the hotel, add to the charm of Galway Forest Lodge. Theme Nights with a variety of delicious dishes prepared by Executive Chef, Wijesiri Delthalawage are offered to guests with a change each day.

The hotel will take a carnival atmosphere this year, during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. A host of thrilling activities including the selection of the "Galway Queen" from among Foreign tourist have bene planned by the hotel, from December, this year.A versatile hotelier, Mano de Silva has been appointed the new Resident Manager of Galway Forest Lodge.

'Peace' the theme for Christmas at Ceylon Continental
