SLIM Awards for the 14th time SLIM Ad Awards 2003, the most visible and glamorous marketing communication event of the year, will be held on March 1, 2003 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC), Colombo. This year's theme will be 'Arm yourself peace is declared'.
The much awaited event in the advertising calendar will honour the best of marketing communications, developed and aired during the year, for their impact and effectiveness, said Taslim Rahaman, President Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), which organises the event in association with the Accredited Advertising Agencies Association (Four As). The awards are given for the 14th consecutive year to recognise and reward individuals and their organisations who have developed advertising of true excellence, which in turn spur Sri Lanka's advertising industry to aspire greater heights in creativity and execution, resulting in the furtherance of effective marketing.Entries will be accepted under the categories of Main Marketing Communication (Mar Com) Strategy and Integrated Marketing Communication Strategy. Under the Main MarCom category, print, radio and television advertisements in the areas of food, beverages, personal care, household care, automotive, entertainment and leisure, IT, telecom and office automation, business education and business support services, banking and financial services, investment, insurance and real estate, social responsibility and public services, retail and corporate image will be honoured with gold, silver and bronze awards. The agency which wins the most number of golds in this category will receive the gold award for creative excellence. In the Integrated MarCom category, gold, silver and bronze awards will be given for direct response marketing, point of sale materials, event marketing and sponsorships, public relations, outdoor, packaging, promotions, interactive marketing and transnational advertising. There will also be gold awards for the Print Ad of the Year, Radio Commercial of the Year, TV Commercial of the Year as well as the Campaign of the Year.The latest addition is the Agency of the Year award. Entries will close on January 20. Two panels of judges will select the winners in two rounds. The strategic partner of the event is Dulux. The main partners are Hiru FM, Maliban and Suntel while the co-partners are SignTech, Business Today, SLECC, SriLankan Airlines, Graphitec, Swedish Trading Audio Visual (Pvt) Ltd, Trans Asia Hotel and AC Nielsen. The media partners are Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, SunFM and ShaFM and Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. The members of the Ad Awards Organising Committee are Thusitha Kumarakulasingam, G.S. Sylvestor, Deepal Fernando, Chithrangani Herath Gunaratne, Ralston Perera, Mahinthan Sundaranathan, Janaki Kuruppu, Sharmila Tharmaratnam, Jehan Bastian, Niranjan Wijesekera, Dhammika Kulathunga and ManjulaWolff.
