Havelocks and Antoinette celebrate 25 years : Carols by Candlelight - today

The Havelocks Sports Club will be staging their evening of 'Carols by Candlelight' today which is significant in their seasonal history. Today's event is a celebration of twenty five years for Havelocks and singer Antoinette de Alwis who was associated with the event since its beginning in 1977. It all started with Rusty Vonbergheim a popular personality at Havelocks then, who invited Antoinette and her band Gaylords to lead the carols and continue the evening's entertainment. Rusty was ably assisted by Jeffrey de Jonk the dynamic wing forward.

Although Rusty emigrated, the event was held yearly since then with Antoinette and the Gaylords, after which it was Antoinette with the Peter Prins Combo and now Antoinette and Rodney with Cross Section. The carols will commence at 7 pm led by Norman de Zilva and his choir, after which Antoinette and Rodney with Cross Section will take over for a swinging evening's entertainment.
