Prisoners donate Rs.2.8 million to RVSA

"Prisoners have set an example by donating Rs. 2.8 million for the benefit of war heroes. They gave up eating meat and fish provided by the prison department to save the money for those who made the supreme sacrifice for the country." Dr.

Norm Wickramasinghe, Chairperson, Ranaviru Seva Authority said addressing the media personnel on Thursday.

Pointing out this as an example Dr. Wickramasinghe called on the general public to be conscious of the need to empower the disabled, this December and beyond.

RVSA has carried out a series of psycho-social activities under the projects such as disabled war heroes project, Ranaviru housing development project, scholarship project, legal assistance project, transit camps project, general welfare project and national remembrance park project.

President Chandrika Kumaratunga has also donated Rs. 60 million from the President's Fund for these projects. (RE)
