Sri Lanka plays alongside India, Pakistan and B'desh

Fourteen teams will play in the under-15 Asia Cup cricket tournament in United Arab Emirates.

The prospect of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh playing together with the Associate Members from Asia and the Middle East for the first time makes the tournament an exciting one.

The tourney is organised by the Emirates Cricket Board under the auspices of the Asian Cricket Council.

There will be 35 matches in all spread out into 16 days. The ten non-Test playing countries are: Oman, Maldives, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Nepal, Kuwait, Qatar, Singapore and UAE.

Sri Lanka are expected to play in the Super League Group from today (Sunday) onwards with the final scheduled for Saturday, December 22.

The Sri Lanka team left for UAE on Friday.

The Ten teams will be divided in two groups of 5 who will play preliminary league on a round basis. The top two teams from each group will then join the four Test playing Nations and play the "Super League" on a round basis.

Each match shall be of One Day's scheduled duration and the matches will consist of one 50 overs innings per side. A minimum of 25 overs per innings shall constitute a match.

Amarasinghe (St. Aloysius, Ratnapura), Chaminda Bandara (St. Mary's, Kegalle), Muditha Kawashalya (Dharmasoka, Ambalangoda), Rajiv Weerasinghe (St. Joseph's), Malinga Pushpakumara (Lumbini MV), Sudesh Umayanga Fernando (Sri Sumangala, Panadura).
