Ships collide in North Sea, one sinks LONDON, Dec 14 (Reuters) - A container ship and a car carrier have collided in the North Sea, British coastguards said on Saturday. The car carrier's crew were being rescued after abandoning ship following the early morning collision at the northern entrance of the Strait of Dover between England and France. "We understand that one crew has abandoned ship, we understand that the persons in the water are being collected by another vessel," a Dover Coastguard official told Reuters. "We don't know if there are any injuries." Lloyd's Casualty Reporting Service said the car carrier, the Norway-registered Tricolor, had sunk and the container ship, the Bahamas-registered Kariba, was seriously damaged. |
