Pakistan face uphill task to save Test CAPE TOWN, Jan. 4 (Reuters) - A dramatic collapse by Pakistan put South Africa in sight of victory in the second Test on Saturday. Pakistan were forced to follow on after they were dismissed for 252, losing their last six wickets for just 12 runs on the third day. With South Africa scoring 620 for seven in their first innings, the visitors were left 169 runs short of the follow on target of 421. South African captain Shaun Pollock enforced the follow on and with two and a half days to play and a first innings deficit of 368 to work off, Pakistan face an uphill task to save the match. By tea, the touring side were nine for one in their second innings. Five Pakistani batsmen failed to get off the mark, including Yousuf Youhana. Despite his side's dismal performance, opener Taufeeq Umar defied the odds to score his third century with a career best 135. His knock included 20 fours and a six. |
