SLICL records Rs. 60m premium income on Jan. 1 The Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Limited (SLICL) organised a special incentive scheme to field officers on January 1 to maximise premium income on this day. Thus the year 2003 dawned with the internal staff and field officers islandwide making their contributions to maximise the premium income on the first. The total premium collection of the day exceeds Rs. 60 million, out of which Life new business premium income amounted to Rs. 26.8 million. It is an increase of 66.3 per cent over January 1, 2002. This performance could be attributed mainly to the ongoing peace process which has stimulated the country's economic activities. Kurunegala achieved the highest Life new business premium income of Rs. 5.9 million among regions, an increase of 123 per cent over the last year. Jaffna has contributed a premium income of Rs. 1.5 million, an increase of 416 per cent compared to 2002. This shows that economic activities in Jaffna have taken a positive turn and show a greater potential in the future. The Jaffna branch has been in existence for four decades and provides an uninterrupted service to the public in the area. |
