The Ineractors of Royal College Colombo have organised Drama Comp 2003. This is the first project for this year. As in the past the interactors have given priority to this project which will be held for the seventeenth consecutive year. The Interactors have been finding it difficult to find money and also meet the deadline set by the Board of Interactors. This year Radhika Ranaweera and Avindra Jayasinghe will chair the project. Unlike in other years, a souvenir will also be put out. The Interactors have been working tirelessly on this project, which is second only to the prestigious Shakespeare Drama Competition. At the Drama Comp, the schools are at liberty to choose whatever play they like. Last year Ladies College emerged champions. The Interact Club of Royal College was formed on November 18th, 1965 and it said to be the oldest running club in schools in Sri Lanka. The emphasis of this project is that it would not only bring financial gain to the club but also giving exposure to young talented dramatists who would turn out to be the country's future drama directors and actors. They have other projects such as the Talent Search which also gives young ones the much needed exposure. This year prizes will be awarded to the best actor, best supporting actor, best back-stage manager and best non-speaking role. The committee comprises two young Royalists who under the able guidance of the Interact Board of Royal College are working hard to make this venture a success. The semi-finals will be held on January 14 and the finals will be on January 15 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.
