Business Style by J.A.A.S.Ranasinghe Arranging a buffet has now become more convenient at weddings, seminars and informal get-together parties instead of sit down meals. The buffet generally consists of dishes such as bread and butter, soup or appetizer, main course, accompaniments and desserts. Following are some of the notable manners that should be observed at the buffet table. * Do not start with the bread and butter and fill your plate from all the dishes at a stretch. * Move around the table and select what you prefer. * Your plate should not resemble a mountain of food. If you need more of it, make several visits to the buffet table. For the second and subsequent visits to the table, it is advisable to use a separate plate. Gormendisation (making frequent visits) is considered unacceptable behaviour on the part of the guest. * Once you finish the meal, patronise the table on which the dessert is arranged. Make it a point to select a particular dessert you prefer. Your dessert plate again should not be a mountain of fruits and sweet delicacies. * You should use the same table and serviette for consuming your dessert. * If you do not consume a particular dish you have already served, leave it by the side of the plate; you should never attempt to serve it to someone else at the dining table.
