New look for Hands-on Colombo Hands-on Colombo, a well-known publication providing information on goods and services in the Greater Colombo area, has come under a new management and will be incorporating some new features. Dinesh Kulatunga, Managing Director, Neptune Connections (Pvt) Ltd, which took over the publication authored by Dr. Peter A. Kamps, said the seventh edition, for the year 2003, would be more comprehensive than the previous editions. Besides having more categories such as political parties, police stations, local authorities and national schools, the publication would also be available online from this year, he said. It would also be available at the airport arrivals lounge, duty-free shops and leading hotels island-wide, as well as Sri Lankan diplomatic missions overseas. Tourists or business people planning to visit Sri Lanka could browse through the website and pre-plan their visit and make hotel and airline reservations online, he noted. Advertisers will be given free advertisements on the website and for those who have their own websites, a URL connection will be provided so that customers can access those websites as well. Advertisers who do not have a website could be provided one at a very nominal price, said Kulatunga. He revealed plans to release similar publications for Bangkok, Tokyo, Delhi and Hong Kong shortly which will form part of the Handsonasia series. Other major Asian cities such as Manila, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur will also be covered in the near future, he said. Feasibility studies undertaken in these countries have revealed that there is a huge demand for this sort of publication. He said that he expected no competition as this was a one-of-a-kind publication providing unbiased information on goods and services. He explained that unlike other directories, the entries are not paid for as advertisements. |
