SLFP-JVP coalition in offing? Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna is confident of building a coalition between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the Peramuna despite opposition to such an alliance by other sections of the People's Alliance of which the SLFP is the dominant party. Revealing the progress in the coalition talks a JVP spokesman told the 'Sunday Observer' the discussions between the SLFP and JVP last week at the President's House ended cordially and both the parties will meet again in the second week of February. JVP had handed over a development plan drawn by a committee led by JVP Parliamentarian Nandana Gunathillake containing public's suggestions to the SLFP delegation; comparisons President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, PA Parliamentarians Lakshman Kadirgamar, Maithripala Sirisena and Mangala Samaraweera. The JVP delegation comprised party General Secretary Tilvin Silva, Parliamentarians Wimal Weerawansa, Nandana Gunathillake and Anura Dissanayake. 'The Sunday Observer' also learns that The SLFP delegation had also given a policy draft to the JVP delegation. Both parties had agreed to discuss on the content at the next discussion. However, the JVP spokesman also said that both the parties had agreed not to divulge theproceedings. In mid of August last year, they agreed to work together with plans to prepare a concerted national program to solve the country's national and economic problems and to agitate jointly, against any moves to separate the country.
